We saved him from euthanasia
The life of abandoned animals is often so precarious. It is terribly painful to hear over and over the cries for help and not be able to attend to everyone, because it is impossible to cope with all the desperate cases. It is at such times that we become very frustrated with being unable to do much more, and save all animals who need us. That is what has occurred these days, when among so many cries for help one stood out: an unfortunate little dog, abandoned, unable to protect himself from cars, mean persons, or bigger dogs, or who knows what else, ended up with a smashed leg. The people who found him couldn’t care for him because they didn’t have their own home. Both options the vet gave were terrible: amputation or euthanasia. How could we have remained passive and let him die? Even as we are full of difficult cases, many financial burdens, inability to cope with after surgery care, needs for specialized spaces and treatments, we could not leave this little soul be euthanized. We couldn’t look at those eyes in the picture, eyes begging for mercy and for life.
He has gone through surgery already, and has lost his leg, but we are sure he could still have a beautiful life at APAM Animal Sanctuary, or, who knows, maybe a family will want him someday. Thank you for always supporting us.
